Countryside Veterinary Clinic (CVC), a multi-location veterinary clinic in Upstate New York State, is seeking qualified candidates to join our group of mixed animal veterinary clinics.

The ideal small animal candidate will want to work in an environment that offers a blend of commitment to providing quality medicine and surgery services to all companion animal patients and their owners while meeting the needs of a rural population in our multi-clinic practice.

The ideal mixed/large animal candidate will serve dairy, beef and small ruminant clients. Utilizing advanced techniques in reproduction and herd health services, CVC veterinarians support area farmers that are well known to produce high quality food products while remaining competitive in an increasingly global economy.

Mentorship and Support – Our Progressive Mentorship Program has received rave reviews from our new hires over the years and is tailored to each individual doctors’ needs and comfort level... who are facing the excitement and challenges of working full-time in a veterinary practice. Mentorship from experienced doctors, with daily dialogue on cases and monthly meetings as group to discuss cases and share CE. Our Experienced doctors and staff offer constant help and support as needed, including flexible exam room appointment time slots to allow more time if needed until proficient and comfortable.

Caseload Variety and Experience – Our commitment to meeting the needs of all our clients leads to a natural variety of cases. Supported by experienced professional staff, there is no better place to gain the overall experience you desire: All life stages of wellness exams, rewarding medical and surgical workups (soft tissue and orthopedic), reproductive and breeding management (if desired) and emergency/urgent care skills. All doctors share a regular schedule of routine surgery. More advanced surgery will be scheduled as the associate desires. An experienced clinician will be on site available to assist as needed (no solo surgery until associate and mentor feel comfortable with skills). All four hospitals are equipped with in-house CBC and Chemistry/T4/Cortisol/Progesterone and Urinalysis capabilities (Idexx) as well as expected surgical monitoring equipment. Our full-service clinics are equipped with digital radiograph equipment and ultrasound. Two locations have Companion Therapeutic Laser. Referral centers are within a reasonable commute.

Shared On-Call to best balance patient needs in a rural community and quality of life for our professional staff. Our practice stands out in the community because we are willing to serve our clients and patients even when medical needs arise outside of regular business hours. We utilize MyPetDoc Partner (TelehealthTriage Roll-over & After-Hours Service) to lessen call volume and support our doctors and licensed technicians.

Kennel Assistant Positions Available

Do you love animals? Love being around them. Previous experience preferred, but not required. Full-time job...will consider part-time if appropriate situation.

Overall Responsibility –

The Primary purpose of the position is to provide care and the basic needs of animals that are being groomed, boarded, or are patients of Countryside Veterinary Clinic.

Key Areas of Responsibility –

Walks through the kennel areas checking each animal individually for any abnormal activity such as vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in cage or run; Reports any abnormalities to Tech/Doctors, Mark charts correctly for eating, drinking, fecal, and urine production, Feeds and waters animals according to schedules, Cleans and disinfects cages, runs, and yards as needed, Cleans and disinfects all water and food bowls, Picks up soiled bedding and moves it to laundry area, Places clean bedding in run with animals, Operates washer and dryer to clean kennel bedding and hospital laundry, Records and labels all belongings, Walks all dogs at appropriate times

Greet every client with a smile and address client and pet by name, Assist clients with their pets or large purchases, Maintains cleanliness of hospital, including shoveling/salting walkways, Bathing animals (make sure animals are clean and smell fresh prior to discharge), Empty trash in kennel areas, Sweep and mop floors daily in kennel areas, Patrol hospital grounds daily, picking up any trash or stool material

Keeps materials and cleaning supplies stocked and filled (cat carriers, burial boxes, litter trays), Assisting the technicians and doctors with restraining animals, Perform safe tactics when handling aggressive animals, Assist with euthanasia’s & physically moving the remains, Recycle all used wet food cans and baby food containers

Assist with any other tasks asked.

Skills and Attributes – Willing to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and listen; may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time; will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; will reach with hands and arms. Often required to lift and carry animals or materials weighing fifty pounds or more; handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs. Professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude towards pet owners/co-workers. Wear proper uniform, have good personal hygiene, and no open toed shoes.

Benefit Conditions: 30 day Waiting period may apply

Starting pay $16/hr

Hours vary - 8 hour shifts between the hours of 6:30 am and 6 pm
